Frequently Asked Questions

It is with sincere gratitude that we thank you for considering Body Language Custom Ink for your next piece. With that said, it is important for us to dedicate our time wisely so that each client can obtain our utmost quality of work and creative direction.

Below is a list of FAQs that we have answered to hopefully help you decide whether or not we are the best fit for your tattoo.

Lastly, please keep in mind that reading the FAQs is required prior to requesting a consultation.

Do you add-on to current pieces done by yourself or another artist? Do you do re-works?
Yes, on a case by case basis. Your artists will make this determination from your request form and/or consultation.

Do you do sleeves and larger tattoo work?
In short, we can accommodate for larger pieces such as sleeves or back pieces, but the entire piece needs to be planned out and scheduled. We will not add-on to other pieces and collage them in efforts to “create a sleeve.”

We require that any piece have the necessary deposits rendered and appointments scheduled (from start to finish) up front in 4 to 8 week intervals (depending on what the tattoo requires).

Do you do cover-ups?
No, we do not. We always strive to create uncompromising tattoos for our clients and coverups, no matter how minute, equate to compromise for both parties.

Do you have flash sheets to choose from?
All of our tattoos are fully custom and designed specifically for each client. Therefore, we do not offer flash sheets.

Do you do piercings?
Yes, we do offer piercings.

How old do I need to be to get tattooed at Body Language Custom Ink?
While we do tattoo minors with parental consent, we ask that you be at least 16 years of age if you desire to be tattooed by one of the artists at Body Language Custom Ink.

Do you take walk-ins, or do I need to make an appointment?
We currently do not take walk-ins due to government restrictions and COVID guidelines. We typically have artists available to accommodate walk-ins, but it is recommended to call the studio to check.

Why are appointments scheduled so far out?
All appointments are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. The time required for the design and the clients availability is a factor. For smaller sessions you may be able to get an earlier date than those who require longer sessions or have a less flexible schedule.

What is your deposit and payment process?
Deposits for drawing and appointment(s) are made before the first session. This is a NON-REFUNDABLE down-payment that ensures your commitment and allows the artist to put the drawing time into your design.

For the deposit, we 50% of the total price. This deposit and the consultation fee goes towards the overall time and cost of the tattoo.

Can I just stop by for a consultation?
In order to schedule a consultation, you will first need to read through the FAQ’s and then fill out the online form. To create a peaceful environment for both the artist and the client, we do not allow random visitors or “squatters” to hang out like you may find in other tattoo shops.

How much will my piece cost?
The cost of your tattoo is determined by the amount of time it will take to create. Style, size, detail, and placement all affect this determination, so the consult process is paramount in this calculation.

I found this piece online and would like to get it tattooed? Can you do this and since the design is already done, can I get it for cheaper than your usual rate?
No. While we certainly appreciate references to guide us in learning about what you do and don’t like in tattoos, each piece we do is fully custom and relative to each client. Because of that, we do not offer discounts.

Can my friend(s) come with me to get tattooed?
Due to current government regulations for COVID, we request that you come alone to your appointment.

To maintain the proper working environment, we ask that there be no more than a “plus one” when getting tattooed. Yes, your significant other or best friend may come with you, but no more than one additional person per client.

Can I bring my child with me to the studio?
No. Please do not bring anyone under the age of 18 to the studio with you.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
1. Ensure to get a good night’s rest. Nothing makes a tattoo less pleasurable than a hangover or fatigue.
2. It’s necessary to eat a good meal 1 to 2 hours prior to your appointment to avoid low blood sugar.
3. Please remember good hygiene is key to preventing infection when wounds and skin irritation are present.
4. If you enjoy listening to your own music, please feel free to bring your headphones. We won’t be offended.
5. Bring a drink to stay hydrated. Please make sure it’s covered or in a resealable container.
6. Please wear clothing that allows access to the area to be tattooed. We greatly appreciate as much modesty as possible.
7. Finally, begin caring for the area to be tattooed with a premium moisturizer. Not only will this optimize the outcome of your tattoo but instils in you the habits necessary to care for it through its healing and keep it looking beautiful for years to come!

What do I do if I need to reschedule my appointment?
A 48-hour notice is required to reschedule your appointment. This allows us adequate time to fill your slot. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your deposit for that appointment. With that said, we understand that emergencies arise, and life can sometimes be unpredictable for all of us. In a mutual desire to see the best possible outcome for your piece we respectfully ask that you treat your tattoo with the same diligence you would expect from your artist.

What is your suggested aftercare regiment for tattoos and piercings?
Instruction will vary depending on the type of covering you’ve been provided upon the completion of your tattoo session. Please read carefully and follow the instructions specific to your covering. Understand the quality of the care you give your tattoo throughout its healing will directly affect how it looks once healed. Also remember that UV quickly damages tattoos causing fading and migration.
